This 5-day midrange safari covers the complete northern Tanzania circuit with the added advantage of two nights in the Serengeti. Spending more time in the Serengeti significantly increases your chances of witnessing predator hunts, large herds, and the seasonal wildebeest migration.
Stay in comfortable tented camps and lodges with en-suite bathrooms, hot showers, and excellent service. Travel in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with your experienced guide. All meals, park fees, and accommodation are included.
Depart Arusha after breakfast and drive to Tarangire National Park. Spend the day among giant baobab trees and one of Tanzania's largest elephant populations. Watch for giraffes, zebras, and diverse birdlife along the Tarangire River. The park's dry-season concentration of wildlife is among the highest in the country. Overnight at Country Lodge Karatu or Marera Valley Lodge.
Drive from Karatu through the scenic highlands and descend into the vast Serengeti plains. The landscape transition is breathtaking as farmland gives way to endless savanna. Afternoon game drive searching for lions, hyenas, elephants, and large herds of plains game. Overnight at Serengeti Heritage Camp or Thorn Tree Camp.
A full day of extended wildlife viewing in the Serengeti with a packed lunch. Your guide will focus on the areas with the best recent sightings. Look for lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and buffaloes. Depending on the season, you may witness the great wildebeest migration moving across the plains. Overnight at the same camp.
Early morning game drive to catch the peak predator activity in the golden light. After a late breakfast, depart the Serengeti and drive through the scenic highland transition toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at your lodge on the crater rim in the late afternoon. Overnight at Rhino Lodge or Ang'ata Ngorongoro Camp.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning for a half-day game drive on the crater floor. The crater is home to lions, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, and hyenas, with a chance to spot the endangered black rhino. Picnic lunch on the crater floor. Ascend and drive back to Arusha via the scenic Lake Manyara route. Drop-off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport.
