Tanzania safari destinations across the northern circuit

Where Your Safari Takes You

Tanzania's northern circuit is home to some of the most iconic wildlife destinations on earth. Each park offers a distinct landscape, a different cast of animals, and a unique experience.

Four Parks, One Unforgettable Trip

The Tanzanian northern circuit links four remarkable parks within a few hours of each other. Our safaris combine them in different orders and durations to give you the full picture of East African wildlife.

Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is the crown jewel of African safaris. Roughly 14,750 square kilometres of endless golden plains, scattered acacia trees, and dramatic granite kopjes. It is home to the Great Migration, one of the most extraordinary wildlife spectacles on the planet.

The park supports the largest population of lions in Africa, along with cheetahs, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and hundreds of other species. Depending on the season, you can find the migration herds in the southern Ndutu plains, the Western Corridor, or the Mara River crossings in the north.

Best for: Big cat sightings, Great Migration, endless plains photography.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest unflooded volcanic caldera. Nearly 20 kilometres across and 600 metres deep, it forms a natural enclosure that shelters one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa.

Descend into the crater for a half-day game drive through open grassland, acacia woodland, and soda lakes. You will find lions, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hippos, and one of the few remaining populations of the critically endangered black rhino. The rim offers some of the most dramatic views on any safari.

Best for: Big Five sightings in one day, rhino viewing, dramatic crater landscapes.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire is known for two things: massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The Tarangire River is a lifeline for wildlife during the dry season, drawing huge numbers of elephants, wildebeest, zebra, and buffalo to its banks.

The park is less crowded than the Serengeti or Ngorongoro, which makes it feel wilder and more intimate. The landscape is dotted with giant baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, giving Tarangire a distinctly prehistoric atmosphere. It is also one of the best birding destinations in Tanzania.

Best for: Elephant herds, baobab landscapes, birdlife, fewer crowds.

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is small but incredibly diverse. In just 325 square kilometres you travel through groundwater forest, acacia woodland, open grassland, and the alkaline lake itself. The compact size means you see a remarkable variety of habitats in a single day.

The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, a behaviour rarely seen elsewhere. Large troops of baboons, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and thousands of pink flamingos along the lake shore are among the highlights. It is a perfect half-day or full-day stop en route to the Serengeti.

Best for: Tree-climbing lions, flamingos, baboons, diverse habitats in a compact park.

The Northern Circuit and Great Migration

Every Infinity Prideland safari follows the northern circuit from Arusha. The numbered stops show the parks we visit, and the arrows trace the year-round path of the Great Migration through the Serengeti.
